WHAT IS SYSTEMIC FAMILY CONSTELLATIONS?

Systemic Family Constellations offers a powerful approach for resolving deeply held issues, focused around invisible wounds and trans-generational trauma impacting individuals and whole family systems. It looks through a wide-angled lens, including everyone and everything that might have a place as part of the interconnected systems to which we belong. This enables us to illuminate what is missing and reveal the subsequent invisible imbalances underpinning any difficulties being experienced. This approach then opens up the potential for healing resolutions to emerge through a process of radical re-inclusion.

Systemic Family Constellations is a brief solution-focused approach developed by Bert Hellinger. It helps us see the bigger picture and offer resources to facilitate healing movements that enable us to recognise and accept what is and generate desired change. It is a phenomenologically-orientated approach and gives us access to that which is not readily seen. It works not only with the here and now but with our place in our ancestral lineage. It focuses on the movement towards wholeness and taking one's rightful place in life.

The work is underpinned by founding principles known as the Orders of Love. When these orders are transgressed, imbalances are created, which can manifest in a multitude of problems. If left unresolved, these issues travel downwards through the generations until what has been hidden becomes seen and returned to its rightful place.

Systemic Family Constellations enables us to identify what needs to be seen, honoured, and given its place to create movement and balance for the whole system. We can identify internal and external resources to draw upon that facilitate this movement towards resolution and rebalancing, ready for a new chapter in our life to unfold.

WHAT HAPPENS IN A SYSTEMIC FAMILY CONSTELLATIONS WORKSHOP?

People attend constellations workshop as individuals even though they are exploring issues within their family system. In each constellation, there is an issue holder, a group of representatives and a facilitator. The facilitator and issue holder begin by discussing the issue and identifying the issue holder desires from the constellation. Other group members are then invited to represent aspects of the person's current family, ancestors or other relevant elements of the system, such as places or resources. Representatives report what arises for them. The constellation enables everyone to bear witness to the facts as they are, without judgement and with deep respect. The facilitator tests hypotheses for what may help create a healing movement within the system. Representatives may be invited to say specific words or make a particular simple movement. The facilitator works alongside the issue-holder throughout the process, ensuring the constellation is in service to their initial request.

HOW CAN I FIND OUT MORE?

To fully appreciate what a Systemic Family Constellation involves, it has to be experienced first hand. People can attend a workshop either as an issue holder or a representative. An issue holder brings a specific issue they wish to explore through a constellation, whereas a representative takes part in other's constellations with the opportunity to gain personal insights from them. Many feel that they gain as much, if not more, from being representatives. There will be time for five issues to be constellated throughout the day.
